MONTICELLO – Susan C. “Sue” Galt, 86, of Monticello handed away on March 5, 2018, at OSF Health Care Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.
Sue was born April 10, 1931, in Anna, the daughter of Joe and Susan (Finch) Davidson. She married Robert Galt on July 22, 1950, in Monticello.
She is survived by her son, Roger Galt (Sandy); daughter, Jenny Galt; brothers, John Davidson (Carol) and Kenneth Davidson (Mary); daughter-in-law, Lavon Donley-Cornett; grandchildren, Matthew, Phillip and Kathy Galt; great-grandchildren, Faith and Andrew Galt; in addition to many cherished relations from her husband’s aspect of the household and lots of beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in dying by her mother and father, husband (1997) and sister, Jodie Steggerda (Dec. 2017).
A graduate of Monticello High School in 1949 and a member of the UI Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Sue remained a Fighting Illini sports activities fan till the top and loved all types of sports activities on TV. Sue was a paramedic for Kirby Hospital and in her youthful years she performed golf, tennis and gained the State Title in Women’s Trap Shooting.
She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church and the Monticello Golf Club. She loved enjoying Bridge, beloved her cat Punkin II and can miss her Friday nights out with pals and the visits from her neighbors, as her door was all the time open. She most loved going to take heed to her favourite band, The Miscellaneous 2 Man Band, play on the Lucky Monkey in Bement.
While we might by no means acknowledge all these right here who helped the household with this journey, we want to give particular because of Lavon Donley-Cornett, Lissa Dighton and Paula Heath who have been together with her in her ultimate hour in addition to many days of health and happiness. Also, honest because of Connie Barber for all the time being there for Sue.
Sue continued to make new associates, younger and previous in age, even late in life, as a result of she was real and enjoyable. We will miss her humor, opinions, readiness to “go-see-do” and her inspiring power.
Visitation will probably be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. A funeral Mass might be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Monticello, with Fr. Bruce Lopez officiating. Interment will probably be held in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Memorial donations could also be made to the Piatt County Ecumenical Food Bank or the Piatt County Animal Shelter.
