BERLIN (AP) — A German hospital is utilizing a graphic image of a mangled hand to warn individuals towards shopping for or utilizing unlawful firecrackers.
Klinikum Dortmund posted the photograph on social media Wednesday, forward of New Year’s celebrations when Germans historically set off giant portions of fireworks.
Hospital spokesman Marc Raschke says the image exhibits a affected person whose thumb and two fingers have been blown off by a strong firecracker two years in the past.
Raschke says the Dortmund hospital sometimes treats two to 4 such accidents annually, and the image was “one of the more harmless ones.”
Germans spend an estimated 100 million euros ($104 million) on New Year’s fireworks yearly.
Illegal imported fireworks and improper use are blamed for almost all of great accidents and deaths.
